10 Questions with Shawn Johnson

After coming off her recent win in Jacksonville, FL at the Tyson American Cup.  I sat down with Shawn and asked her a few questions.

1.  Tell me how it felt to win your first internation senior competition?

It was amazing.  Hearing the crowd make me want to do so much better and it really pumped me up.

2.  What is a "typical" day for you?

I get up in the morning and go to school, after school I go straight to the gym for 4 hours everyday, and then I go home and do homework (if I have any)

3.  Being on the senior international team, is there anything special that you have to do when you workout or a special diet you need to be on?

I just stick to my normal workout plan, which is lots and lots of routines, conditioning and practice all my skills

4.  How do your friends treat you now that you are a "National Superstar"?

I haven't noticed them treat me any differently.  My teachers have been great about my having to go out of the country and getting all my homework ready to go.

5.  What do you like to do when you are not working out or going to school?

I love scrapbooking, horseback riding and walking shelter dogs.

6.  Is there anything you can tell us about you other than being an accoplished gymnast?

I have published 3 short stories

7.  What skill took you the longest to learn and what skill did you learn the fastest?(Skills you are now competing)

My double double on bars was the hardest to learn and took the longest, and my standing full on beam was the easiest and the shortest.

8.  Are you looking forward to going to Ireland next week?

I am so looking forward to it.  I love visiting new countries and even other countries that I have been to.  I cannot wait to see what China looks like in 2008

9.  We all know that you are looking forward to competing for Team USA over the next year and a half.  Who do you feel will be your toughest competition?

They are all good competitors, I cannot pinpoint who is the toughest competition.  We are all like sisters and I feel that they are all my toughest competitors

10.  Tell us more about Shawn.  What are your favorite classes in school, what do you like to do in your spare time and anything else you want the rest of the world to know.

I love school, I like to write a lot.  I don't know what I would be doing if I wasn't a gymnast.  I would probably be a little taller than I am.  Don't forget to visit my website http://www.shawnjohnson.net/
